Biography:

Sensei Jaye began studying Karate in 1971 seeking survival skills to help her to recover from victimization. Starting her training under Shihan Bobby Peeler in Ai Mute Shoto-kan Karate and later under Grandmaster Remy Presas in Modern Arnis and Manong Ted Buot in Balintawak Escrima.

An early pioneer in the development of self-defense courses for women, she became nationally and internationally known. She traveled throughout the US and in Europe, Guatemala, and Belize teaching people and instructors how to study and teach self-defense.

Jaye served as chair of NWMAF as well as headed the Self-Defense Teacher Certification Committee. She has been honored as Member of the year twice as well was receiving the Award of Excellence. She is a member of the Michigan Karate Hall of Fame, and the Association of Women Martial Arts Instructors Hall of Fame.

A career high for her was speaking in Washington, DC on the White House Summit on the United States of Women. Sensei Jaye founded and has directed Mejishi Martial Arts in Detroit, Michigan for nearly forty-five years.
